George Pal Theatrical Cartoon Logo


Born György Pál Marczincsak in Cegléd Hungary, George Pal was a stop motion animation pioneer in U.S. cinema. He left Europe in the face of Adolf Hitler's Germany, and found a home at Paramount Studios. He began his Puppetoons series for Paramount.

By 1950, he had moved on to directing live-action films with stop-motion animated elements, including producing 1953's The War of the Worlds.
