Cartoon Comments:
Lonesome Lenny
Lonesome Lenny is classic Steinbeck!
Reviewed by: snuttley,
It struck me recently that this cartoon is a pastiche of John Steinbecks classic novel "Of Mice And Men". Lenny the big dopey dog in this cartoon is a very close parallel to Lenny the big dopey man in the book. The opening sequence where Lenny produces a dead mouse from his pocket mirrors the opening scene of "Of Mice And men" precisely. In the book Lenny is looking for a little friend to pet - just like Lenny in the cartoon. Lenny in the cartoon calls Screwy Squirrel "George" just like Lenny's friend in the book. I could go on - for there are may links here. However read "Of Mice And Men" then watch this brilliant cartoon - and you'll never take the book seriously again!
