A Day At The Beach Was No Picnic!

Reviewed by: richardjf,

When Bugs Bunny cartons would air on ABC, this one would be shown numerous times.
While at the beach, Tweety is marooned on a rocky ledge by the incoming tide.
Sylvester spends much of the cartoon trying to get him back in for lunch of course, but Tweety doesn't know that.
"The brave puddy tat is trying to save me."
This cartoon was one of the few times we see Granny and Sylvester as allies. Granny thinks Sylvester is trying to save Tweety too.
Tweety ends up having to row himself back to shore.
Like so many Merrie Melodies, this one was tops as well. No doubt about it.

Sandy Claws 8 out of 5 stars

Throughout Freleng's Sylvester cartoons, Art Davis had a hand in nearly all the cat's memorable facial expressions, but especially THIS one; maybe that's why he was given special co-writer credit here.
