Baby Bumblebee

Reviewed by: Scott H,

At long last we've found it! My wife and I have talked about the song within this classic cartoon for years with great discussion of whether it was a Baby Huey cartoon or what character sang the song Baby Bumblebee. Stumbling on your website will be a hoot in some revisited memories of theater break cartoons and Saturday mornings around the TV.
Thanks for keeping and showing those memories!

Bashful Buzzards are spin-off of Bugs Bunny Cartoon... 8 out of 5 stars

While the cartoon is funny and has the Clampett touch, the whole story line is a copy of "Bugs Bunny Gets the Boid", released in 1942 (also by Clampett)
The original cartoon has some timeless site gags and lines, and you have to give the ORIGINAL cartoon credit.
Just some of the scenes and lines:
- This is the cartoon where Killer sings, "My Momma done told me, to bring home sump'in for dinner..."
- Bugs Bunny and then killer think they are dead because of the skeleton bones surrounding them... ("Gruesome, isn't it?)
- Momma Buzzard: " HEY! What you do to my boy"
- And of course you have typical Bugs scenes where he cross dresses, etc.
Just a classic Bugs Bunny, and I give credit to "Bugs Bunny Gets the Boid".
Yet we can enjoy the Bashful Buzzards - second or not, a funny cartoon.

The Bashful Buzzard 6 out of 5 stars

Robert Clampett is, as far as I am concerned, the king of sick WB humor. And this cartoon has as much sick stuff as any he ever directed. Check out the ancient rooster as he curses the buzzards flying overhead, as the buzzards decimate the barnyard. They carry off cows (with the farmer still milking them!!!), a horse and buggy (with an amorous suitor making a panting pass at a lass inside), a dog clinging to a fire hydrant, elephants (one has a sign, "I am NOT Dumbo!") and bring them back to mama (no it's not Kaye Ballard. I think it's June Foray). We see mama stuffing the elephant into a cauldron. What a riot!!!! And then, Beaky is smacking around what he thinks is a worm (it turns out to be the head of an enormous dragon) and calls it an "infinitesmial piece of shhhhhhhhhhhoeleather!! Only Bob Clampett! The best there ever was!!
