Sering D. Wilson, one of the animation pioneers during the silent era, had two main creations- Ebenezer Ebony and Karlo the Dog. In such shorts as "Hollywood Heaven," Karlo and Kack the Bird had adventures that bordered on the surreal, including a trip in a balloon to Hell and Heaven.
