Formed in 1926 by David Sarnoff and the Radio Corporation of America (RCA), NBC was the first major broadcast network in the United States. In 1986, General Electric purchased control of NBC. Currently, the American network is controlled by NBCUniversal, a joint venture of Comcast and General Electric.
