Ray Harryhausen is primarily known for his breakthrough stop-motion model animation from films such as Mighty Joe Young (1949) and Jason and the Argonauts (1963). Harryhausen his first job was as an animator for George Pal's Puppetoons shorts. In the late 1940's, Harryhausen began to self-produce smaller animated fairy tale projects in his free time. The final film, "The Story of the Tortoise and the Hare", was left unfinished until 2002, when animators Seamus Walsh and Mark Caballero helped Harryhausen complete it.
