Raoul Barre was an early prominent early animator, director and producer. He and William Nolan opened Barré Studios, the first studio dedicated solely to producing animated films. Unfortunately, Barré Studios also has the unenviable distinction of being the first animation studio to fail. Barre would end up working for his main competitor Bray, as well as Edison, for whom he produced the Animated Grouch Chasers series.
