Cartoon Synopsis:

The summer season goes to an end, and the tourists' autos, trailers, boats, etc. leave Peachstone National Park. As the sound of the last car fades out, Willoughby, the caretaker, closes the gate, puts the cat out, and hangs up a sign reading "Park Closed for the Winter." He then calls all of the bears for a final meeting. He tells them that the party's over; no more handouts from tourists; that now they're on their own, and that their survival's in their own hands. Willoughby, slyly being watched by one bear, Fatso, then goes to the chicken house to gather some eggs. As Willoughby leaves with a basketful of eggs, Fatso goes to the chicken house, sticks his head in the small chicken entrance, and begins collecting eggs. A rooster, protector of the flock, sees Fatso and, sharpening his spurs, gives him the buzzsaw treatment. Fatso, minus eggs, rushes away. Fatso, in a series of various disguises, attempts again and again to get some eggs, but he's thwarted each time by the ever-watchful rooster. Finally, Fatso does get a basket of eggs by the ever-present rooster, but he's then confronted by Willoughby, who asks him what he has in his hands. He drops the basket of eggs and sits on it as he holds up empty hands. The "cheep, cheep" of hatching chicks causes Fatso to get up and run, but Willoughby says, "Back on the nest, keep 'em warm." Fatso sits like a mother hen with a brood running all over him as we fade out.
