Cartoon Synopsis:
Evil King Salmoneus has a plan to shore up his failing popularity- impersonate Zeus and command his people to adore him. When Zeus gets wind of the tricks and smites the king for his gall, the good people of Thessaly turn to Hercules for leadership and crown him instead (much to Icarus' delight). The reluctant boy monarch does a good job (although he'd rather just go back to being a hero in training). But meanwhile King Sal strikes a bargain with Pain and Panic to regain his throne. Turning into a gigantic lion they do battle with Hercules and manage to destroy Thessaly in the process. In the end the people agree to rebuild their city-state without the help of a king, experimenting instead with a little thing called Democracy.
