A Brief History Of This Cartoon Character:

Two ultra-polite gophers combine to cause problems for any undefended garden. The characters were based on the super-polite Edward Everett Horton and Franklin Pangborn, including their rather prissy mannerisms, as well as Alphonse and Gaston, two early comic strip characters created by Frederick Burr Opper, who were also super-polite.
