Two pigeons declare their love on the towers of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. The chimeras atop the cathedral attempt in vain to frustrate their romance. The couple fly off to discover the capital and renew acquaintances with their great friend, the Eiffel Tower.
It's a festival that day in Paris, where everyone celebrates by going fishing. The pigeons' nuptial ballet takes them to the edges of the Seine, where the Eiffel Tower, eager for glory and travel, wants to join in. Its size and clumsiness bring catastrophes that even bother its friend the girl pigeon.
The Eiffel Tower sings of its despair and dreams of being the star of an immense ballet alongside Big Ben, the Statue of Liberty and the Tower of Pisa. In the wee hours, it's noticed that the Eiffel Tower has disappeared. The tower has gone on vacation to forget its bitterness. In a long sequence, the Eiffel Tower "fishes" the Paris subway and rediscovers the joy of living.
The authorities decide to construct a new tower identical to the "runaway." Warned by its friends, the pigeons, the original Eiffel Tower takes big strides back to Paris, just in time for the President's speech... and to the cheers of Parisians.
