Synopsis for the Cartoon Special Flash Gordon: The Greatest Adventure Of All

1939. Warsaw, Poland. Flash Gordon, on assignment for the State Department, attempts to locate his contact, during the Nazi bombing of the city. He hears the word "Mongo" from his contact's lips. Later, Flash is returning to the US on an airplane, along with journalist Dale Arden. The plane is struck down by a meteor, but not before Flash and Dale escape by parachute. They encounter the mysterious Dr. Hans Zarkov, who tells them the Earth is under attack from the planet Mongo. Flash, Dale and Zarkov take off in an experiemental rocket, enroute to Mongo. After being shot down by Ming's rocket patrols, they find themselves in a series of narrow escapes. Along the way, they meet Emperor Ming and his daughter Aura. It is revealed that Ming is secretly providing advanced weaponry to the Nazis. Flash escapes, with the help of Prince Thun of the Lion Men, with Aura as a hostage. Flash finds allies in Thun and, later, Prince Barin of Arboria, but are interrupted by an attack by the Hawkmen. They are taken to see Prince Vultan. Vultan intends to keep Aura for himself, but an attack by Ming's forces convinces him to join forces with Flash, Thun, and Barin. After defeating Ming's underground attack on Arboria, they use a mechanical mole to infiltrate Ming's palace, in an attempt to rescue Dale and Zarkov. Meanwhile, Dale is being prepared to marry Ming. Flash succeeds in disrupting the wedding and rescuing Dale, while engaging in a fierce battle with Ming. Ming falls from a rooftop during the battle and is revealed to be a robot duplicate. Flash destroys the machinery that is bringing Mongo closer to the Earth, causing the planets to be pushed away. Barin becomes ruler of Mongo, while Flash vows that the will somehow find a way home.
