Synopsis for the Theatrical Cartoon The Family Circus

This cartoon presents a simmering pot of sibling rivalry- with an unusual level of violence for UPA! A sibling rivalry combining some fairly absurd (and violent!) Dennis the Menace-type gags with a somewhat realistic, emotionally motivated story line. Patsy is a little girl who's jealous of her little baby brother, who gets all of Dad's attention. In an attempt to get him to pay attention to her, she "acts out" against her unthinking Daddy when he neglects her by doting on her new baby brother. Unfortunately, she keeps hurting him or making him mad in the process. The highlight sequence is the father's nightmare (after he takes a blow to the head): he experiences his daughter's anger in an eerie dream sequence through limited animation entirely in the style of the girl's own artwork!
