Secret Garden Story Detail
The Doom Tree begins withering rapidly. Panicked, Alan and Ann send a new Cardian out to steal energy. It attacks a crowd at a department store, Molly and Melvin among them. Serena and Luna arrive, but too late. The energy doesn't help the Doom Tree. Noticing Ann and Alan were absent from school, Serena visits their apartment with Amy and Lyta. Alan is happy to see her, but Ann is very cold to her, angering Lyta. Alan notices a feeling in his heart when he's around Serena and is confused. While Lyta and Ann argue over whether they should concern themselves, Serena wanders over to a door. She's about to open it, but Alan stops her. Ann angrily orders her out of the apartment. The next morning, Luna finds Serena already gone. She turns up at Alan and Ann's apartment again. Ann is even colder to her, but Alan invites her in. Alan hustles Ann to the kitchen to get her away from Serena. Alone, Serena goes to the door and opens it. Inside is pitch black. Suddenly a light shines on Serena and something grabs for her. She screams as a tendril grabs her hair and arm. Alan pulls her away and closes the door. He explains the tendril as an experimental plant. Ann becomes enraged and chases Serena off again. The aliens check on the Doom Tree and find it has suddenly sprouted new blossoms. They summon the Cardian and feed it stolen energy, only to have the blossoms wither. They conclude that Serena's energy did it. Finding a twig on Serena that's moving, Amy analyzes it with the cats. The twig makes a grab for Artemis and they discover it's an alien plant. Unconvinced of their guilt, Serena visits Alan and Ann again that evening. She spots Darien, who heard Ann was sick and was visiting with some flowers. Serena followed Darien in. Ann maneuvers Alan and Darien to the balcony, then lures Serena into the room with the space warp to the Doom Tree. She shoves Serena in. The tendrils grab her and begin draining her.
