Cartoon Synopsis:
Jane and the kids want a dog for personal protection, George doesn't believe in that, but he wants to keep everyone happy. Elroy brings home a big, dumb mutt who starts every word with an "R" sound. The family wants to keep it as a pet, but George resists. He gets a recommendation from the electronic brain at his office that suggests a robot mutt instead. George purchases Lectronimo, an apartment-approved electronic dog, one of those nuclear-powered trouble-free dogs that looks like an Electrolux canister vacuum. The family is underwhelmed. A contest should point out the superior dog; a duel ensues to see which dog stays. Lectronimo beats out Astro, who must leave the next day. During the night, however, the infamous Cat Burglar breaks into the Jetson apartment, and Lectronimo goes after him (the dog is programmed to go after anything in a mask). Somehow, George gets saddled with the mask, and Lectronimo starts after him. A comic chase ends in Astro accidentally saving the day and capturing the Cat Burglar, winning his place in the Jetson home and sending Lectronimo to the scrap heap.
