Bluto's Company C and Popeye's Company D volunteer fire departments are housed together so that they can annoy each other full-time. Poor Olive's house is ablaze. The fire thoughtfully runs down the sidewalk and turns in an alarm. Naturally, both fire companies rush over to Olive's house.
Bluto arrives first and assesses the situation: "Ohhhh, it's a bad fire. It's a very bad fire." But he and Popeye are more concerned with their resentment for each other (aiming their hoses at each other) than they are with saving Olive's house. Olive is stuck on the roof. "Keep cool, Olive," says Popeye, who's got some spinach. Popeye is the hero of the day as he saves everyone, but Olive's house is destroyed.
