Synopsis for the TV Cartoon A Moon Star Is Born

Serena Tsukino is a fourteen-year-old ninth grade student at Crossroads Junior High and the constant disappointment of her family. She's lazy, clumsy, self-indulgent, a poor student, a constant dreamer and reacts to stressful situations by crying. But she has a kind heart, which leads her to rescue a black cat being abused by schoolchildren. She removes a bandage on the cat's forehead and finds a crescent moon mark. That evening, the cat, named Luna, appears in her bedroom and tells her she is the reincarnation of the Moon Kingdom warrior Sailor Moon. The cat shows her how to transform and tells her that her mission is to assemble the other Sailor Scouts and search for the missing Moon Princess, for only she can turn back the impending invasion of Earth by Queen Beryl and the Negaverse. Serena is skeptical, but rushes off to help her friend Molly when she learns Beryl's Field General Jadeite is menacing Molly and her mother. As Sailor Moon, she confronts Jadeite's monster minion, but reacts in fear when the monster turns on her. A handsome masked man intercedes, felling the monster with a magic rose. Luna tells Sailor Moon how to convert her tiara into an energy disk and the disk destroys the monster.
