The Return Of The Spider Slayers Story Detail
It's time for Alistair Smythe's revenge against the people who persecuted his father. The Kingpin has given him a lab and enough money to build new Spider-Slayer robots. He sends the first one, a rebuilt Black Widow, after Spider-Man, and only succeeds in capturing by also sending out the Tarantula. Spider-Man is taken to Crime Central and shackled, and after that, Smythe telephones Jameson and brings him also (blindfolded). Jameson arrives and is about to unmask Spider-Man when Smythe shackles him too. He tells them that they will pay for what happened to his father, as will Eddie Brock, Flash Thompson, and Norman Osborn. He attaches a bomb to Spider-Man and Jameson (a bomb that is on both of their hands) with a one hour time limit before detonation, and then gases them so the Slayers can return to the outside. Immediately they wake up, and after "encouraging Jameson" to work with him, they go to help save the others. First, they help Flash and in the midst of it, Spider-Man removes the half of the bomb that was on Jameson. Then, he saves Eddie Brock (much to his dismay). After that, he heads over to Oscorp to save Norman Osborn. Smythe sends his 2 spider-slayers, plus a new one, the Scorpion, to Oscorp to kill Osborn (he has them combine to make one big, Tri-Spider Slayer). Osborn has set Oscorp on alert but to no avail, and he winds up running away in his car with the Slayers right behind him. Meanwhile, Spider-Man has managed to destroy the bomb shackle on his hand, and heads to help Osborn (bomb in tow). He catches up with the Slayers and they have a fierce battle. Finally, Spider-Man manages to defeat them by throwing the bomb at it at the last second. Smythe sees the explosion from a distance and is mortified. Kingpin then comes and says that he will work for him until Spider-Man is destroyed. Elsewhere, Peter Parker is in his room patching up his Spider-Man costume when Aunt May knocks on the door, telling him to be getting ready for his date with Anna Watson's niece, Mary Jane. Peter groans and tells Aunt May that he isn't feeling very well. Just then, the doorbell rings and Aunt May tells him to answer it. He groans again and does so. He opens it and sees Mary Jane there, to which she says, "Face it Tiger, You just hit the Jackpot."
