Sonic and the freedom fighters discover an underground civilization called Lower Mobius and one of its citizens, (Griff). Lower Mobius draws its power from a power crystal, but the crystal is weakening. Feigning friendship, Griff visits Knothole and makes off (steals) the power stone which is the source of the power rings. After fighting off some mechanical rats, the power stone is retrieved. Griff apologizes to Sonic and the other for his theft and is gien a portion of the stone to aid Lower Mobius!
