Synopsis for the TV Cartoon The New Rival

If Sakura thought Li Showron's arrival was trouble, she's in for a big surprise when his old friend Meilin Rae shows up. Immediately declaring herself Sakura's rival for Li's approval and attention, she aims to make Sakura's life miserable. When a Clow Card appears in the town challenging martial arts experts, Li and Sakura plan to capture it. But so does Meilin. Although adept at martial arts, Meilin lacks the magical powers of both her friend Li and her rival Sakura, and she is horrified when Sakura manages to overcome the Fight Card despite obviously inferior skills. Rather than being grateful to Sakura for saving her from the Fight Card, Meilin sees only that Sakura's abilities make her a competitor for Li's affections.
