Walter Lantz, sitting at his drawing board, is hungry, and he wants to prepare a meal. He calls on Pete for help to find some food, but Pete is hiding out in the woods. Walter draws a cooked chicken to lure him out and succeeds, but the chicken comes to life and eludes Pete.
In the meantime, Walter is trying to fry some bacon, but the bacon strips keep crawling out of the skillet, so he ties them down with clothespins.
Pete keeps trying to find food, and he shows up in a butcher shop where the butcher is hanging strings of sausages. Pete steals a string of sausages, but is stopped by a cop outside the shop.
He next encounters a fisherman, who throws away a fish that he has landed because it is too small. Pete grabs it and blows up the fish with air from the tire of a nearby car.
He hands the blown-up fish to Walter, who gleefully puts it on the skillet... where it explodes! Walter ends up in blackface, and Pete ends up in a Lantz-drawn jail.
