Cartoon Synopsis:

Popeye wants to surprise Olive Oyl with a pet parrot. He leaves the talking parrot on Olive's doorstep. Popeye then hides behind a tree. The parrot knocks on the door, and Olive finds him. She reads a note that Popeye has written to her: "When I leaves ya- And goes to sea- I hopes dis parrot- Reminds ya of me." She's so joyful that she begins to cry. The parrot sings her a song, and she brings him inside. The parrot reminds Olive, "Keep your chins up." Bluto arrives, carrying a daisy, and walks over to Olive's window asking: "Where'd you get that dumb-lookin' bird?" Olive explains that it was a gift from Popeye, and jealous Bluto scares it out of the house and into a tree. He follows the bird with an hatchet, chopping the tree down as he chases the parrot. Popeye steps up, and a big fight ensues between Bluto and Popeye in which Olive's safety is compromised (she struggles not to fall off the roof). Funny sight gags of Olive Oyl constantly fainting and Popeye fanning her, even as he battles Bluto. In the end, Popeye pops opens his spinach can, eats the spinach, and wins his war with Bluto. He rescues Olive in the nick of time, and the parrot is saved, too.
