Cartoon Synopsis:
In a Spinach Victory Garden, Popeye is planting spinach everywhere. His four nephews are picking up worms to go fishing. Popeye gives a patriotic lecture, tells them the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk, and then takes a nap. He dreams that his nephews are planting some bean seeds and growing a giant beanstalk to the sky. Outside a castle, a sign reads: "Bed available for swing shift." Popeye realizes that the giant (who carries a batlike club and wears a tunic emblazoned with the legend "N.Y. Giants") is a hoarder of rationed home-front supplies, such as sugar and meat, butter, gasoline and "empty tooth paste tubes." He even has a goose which lays rubber tires. Popeye returns the "goods" for the "good of the cause," and awakes to find that the boys really did grow things for the effort: "pot'atoes," "can'alopes," "pine'nipples"- and a giant "shoe tree."
