Cartoon Summary:

It seems that Olive Oyl likes to read those sloppy romance pulp novels. When Popeye calls her on the phone for a date, she asks for him to be more romantic. Popeye obliges by reciting poems and love sonnets from a book over the phone to her. Bluto walks by her window and hears this drivel, and he decides to climb up the telephone pole. Bluto plugs into Olive's telephone line and growls insults to Olive, making her think that it's Popeye who's doing a Don Rickles bit on her! Popeye gets wind of the deception and a battle on top of the telephone poles and lines ensues! Once again, another great use of backgrounds and perspectives to enhance the gags!
