It had to have been 1994 when I realized this was the greatest cartoon short ever. The storyline was fresh and new, the swing beat was bumpin and the narrative told the story in an innovative way that I can't recall ever being done since. I didn't know the history of the cartoon itself, I've just always enjoyed this more than anything else I have ever seen.

If there's any ONE person I have to single out for topping himself in this cartoon, it's animator Gerry Chiniquy, who animated this whole short by himself (Bob Matz was really his inbetweener & given special credit on this one short). Chiniquy will always be one of the most underrated animators ever; at his very best he was every bit as good as Ken Harris or Rod Scribner or Bob McKimson......Chiniquy's bobbing, lilting rhythms always highlited Freleng's cartoons (musical or otherwise).
Chiniquy is really the HEART AND SOUL of "The Three Little Bops" (he was also a good guitarist, according to Virgil Ross).

By far the most eneretic cartoon of my youth - the music - the tempo - the humour....oh, I'm literally dying to get a copy of this

This cartoon sendup of the 3 little pigs tale is one of my favorites.
Instead of wanting to eat the little pigs, the Bad Wolf wants to play trumpet in their jazz band. One problem: He SUCKS!
Terrific half-sung narration, with swinging band backing it all up.
Also, I hear that the Three Little Bops will be in the next Looney DVD collection set to come out late this year.
Now, if only "The Oily American" would be re-released, I'd be one happy camper. Probably won't ever happen in this "pc" day and age.

The beat throughout this cartoon is infectious. I still have it in my head and I haven't seen it in years. Plus, the animation of Virgil Ross, Gerry Chiniquy and Art Davis make this cartoon nothing less that the greastest art work.
