Foxy, a sombrero-wearing Mickey Mouse-ish fox, rides a weird looking horse through the Mexican desert, and stops at a cantina. You know you've got a popular joint when people's beards dance to the music. There he meets a dancing girl fox (think Minnie Mouse with bushy tail and pointy ears)and the two begin to sing the song "Lady Play Your Mandolin".Foxy gets so involved in his singing that he even immitates Al Jolson: "Aw, Mammy,MAMMY, lemme hear ya play, play, plaaaay your mandolin!" Cut to the horse, who is bored while his rider is whooping it up inside. When he comes inside, Foxy whops him over the head with a bottle of booze and shows him the door, but the horse becomes drunk. He takes the bottle and drinks some more, entering the bar again and running around drunk, then seeing himself in the mirror and hallucinating evil monsters. He continues dancing around, and finally starts quaking and flashing, then spontaniously combusts! This is a sick, wonderfully musical, red-hot, non stop cartoon. One of the best Harman/Ising shorts.Foxy had several other cartoons, his other highlight was "Smile darn Ya Smile". In the early 1990's, the folks who made "Tiny Toon Adventures" regained interest in the fox and his girl, and placed them in a special entitled "The Tiny Toons In Two Tone Town". The girl is finally given a name here: "Roxy."
