BCDB: Cartoon Reviews: The Raven

This is not quite the telling of the Poe classic you would expect. Rather it is the story of a thrifty scottish terriory who is visited on a stromy evening by a The Raven who is a vacuum salesman. The level of animation for this period is surprisingly crude, and the general story line is difficult to sustain for a two reeler as it is. It's too bad they didn't do the Poe story after all. It might have been a far superior film, more in keeping with what the best of what Fleischer animation was all about.
