this was a classic cartoon I thought the
part when Bluto tossed the horse on the
shoes was cool and the fight scene was
cool too

Bluto sing...'WHERE'S THE VILLAGE SMITHY TODAY, SINCE THEY TOOK THE HORSES AWAY. WHAT'S THE VILLAGE BLACKSMITH 'GONNA DO WHEN THERE ARE NO MORE HORSES LEFT TO SHOE, HOW THE SMITHY MUST FEEL WHEN THERE ARE NO WAGONS TO WHEEL. IF HE WAS AS GOOD AS PEOPLE SAY, WHERE'S THE VILLAGE SMITHY TODAY.
This (sung over the main title and credits) introduces a marvelous Popeye adventure.
Erich Schnek's background department inserts a hilarious humanesque tress leaning against Olives blacksmith shoppe.
The animators along with the Fleischer factory were learning new ways to showcase the sailor. The gags would be repeated in the 1950s when Seymore Kneitel was head of Famous Studios. But in 1934 Kneitel (Max Fleischer's son-in-law) along with Max and Dave were turning our favorite sailor into a movie star and formatting what would be the esscense of the Popeye cartoons. Popeye saves the day...which makes him the first superhero in animationland...and he is getting more and more softended, which contirbuted greatly to his charm and popularity.
