This 'toon follows the original comic book story pretty closely (As I recall it was FF #48) but the comic is re-drawn by Hanna-Barbera and various elements of the story are altered to simplify matters (Sue finds the stunned Silver Surfer, not Alicia Masters). The result is a peculiar sort of alternate-universe rendition . . . close, but not quite right! What a shame that Marvel didn't include the FF in their homegrown "Marvel Superheroes" series of cartoons -- it would've been great to see Kirby's art animated for this story.

A "beginner's" intro to the Watcher, Galactus, and the "Herald" himself, Silver Surfer. There are Good and Bad points about this episode - "Bad" to see the original story chopped down; "Good" to see an attempt made *at all*, with (at least) a seeming inner sincerety and respect for the story (Very little "campiness" or "It's Clobberin' Time" pandering). The Jonny Quest-style action (and soundtrack) are generally good; occasionally, there is a Jack Kirby-esque feel to the principal characters. Not bad.
