Production Notes:

Presented on CBS-TV in five-minute serialized adventures, The Beagles were an obvious attempt to cash in on the sound-alike name of the Fab Four from Liverpool, who began their own show the year before on ABC-TV. Original episodes ran on CBS from September 10, 1966 to September 2, 1968.

A year before this series began, ABC debuted its own animated series, "The Beatles." However, "The Beagles" received low ratings and was canceled by CBS. When The Beagles series failed to generate high ratings, it was canceled by CBS. The series was picked up by ABC, where repeat episodes ran from September 9, 1967 to September 7, 1968.

Series producer Joe Harris says that the editor of "The Beagles" died on the job, and that his widow threw out all the editing materials, including the master negatives. The original storyboards may have been discarded, as well.
