Production Notes:
The American release was on July 14, 1961, and ran four minutes shorter than the Japanese version. This and "Hakuja Den were the first two Japanese theatrical animated features distributed in America.
The character of DeeDee was a new creation in the anime.
This is the first big-screen appearance for Jonathan Winters.
The film (English version) is set in "Majutsoland," where the villain is King Gruesome.
Alakazam the Great (the English version) is the only cartoon listed by Harry Medved and Randy Dreyfuss in "The Fifty Worst Movies of All Time (1978).
Songs (U.S. Version): "Ali the Great," "Bluebird in the Cherry Tree," "Under the Waterfall," "Aliki-Aliko-Alakazam."
