Production Notes:
Begun in 1946, this cartoon was explored as a possible release. Various artwork was completed by Spanish artist Salvador Dali. But, for a variety of reasons, production was never completed, and this cartoon was never made.
Destino is now a reality, finished and directed in Paris by Dominique Monféry, and was presented for the first time in Annecy by Roy Disney himself.
Director's statement by Dominique Monféry: "At first, I was very proud that they asked me to direct the film. And then I became very anxious. My initial feeling was that I couldn't do it as it was too abstract, too surreal. Then I thought about it and felt that I could create a very strong film. I could have taken this material and approached view point it from the audience is to make it more legible. Incomprensible, as it's extremely complex."
