Production Notes:
Release date reflects limited release at New York's Ziegfeld and Hollywood's El Capitan theatres. Nationwide release for this film was on November 1, 2003.
Since the Berenstain Bear books feature a character named Brother Bear, Disney had to license the phrase for the title.
The directorial debut of Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker, and the first film produced by Chuck Williams.
Phil Collins' first collaboration (with Mark Mancina) on a film score.
Two of Collins' songs are performed (separately) by Tina Turner and The Blind Boys of Alabama.
When Kenai is transformed into the bear, the movie shifts to a wider format and the colors become supersaturated in a depiction of a "bear's eye view" of the world.
Alternate Titles:
"Bears" (Working Title) and "Moments" (Working Title).
