Production Notes:
Note the production dates on the cartoons that comprised this series pre-date the release date of the show itself.
Due to the success of the King Features Syndicate Popeye series, executive producer Al Brodax hired the same firms to produce 150 color cartoons of other KFS strips- 50 each of "Beetle Bailey," "Krazy Kat" and "Snuffy Smith."
One of the firms, Paramount/Famous Studios, was allowed to distribute the films to theaters in 1962, a year ahead of the syndicated TV release.
To avoid the cartoons appearing just anywhere, King Features syndicated them on condition that they formed a franchised package, in which local hosts would dress as drugstore soda jerks and spotlight the "trilogy" on its own. That, however, is no longer the case, and the cartoons do appear just about anywhere.
