DiC Entertainment took over from Sunbow Productions as the production company in this new G.I. Joe series, which began following Marvel Productions' "G.I. Joe: The Movie."
The first five episodes, "Operation Dragonfire," constituted a mini-series. The new "G.I. Joe" series did not match the popularity of the earlier Sunbow show.
