Production Notes:

This TV series is scheduled to run for 26 episodes. The first episode ran October 6, 2005 as a "sneak preview"; the general run began in January 2006.

A combination of classic animation design and 3D animation, using combined Maya and proprietary software.

Adapted from New Zealand author Martin Baynton's "Jane and the Dragon" children's books.

Weta handled visuals and motion capture, while Nelvana supplied the Director (Mike Fallows) and producer (Pam Lehn) as well storyboarding, editing and all post production, and assisted with scripts, sales and distribution.

Weta Workshop's first venture into children's TV animation.

This was the first use of Weta's Motion Capture animation. Actors in special Lycra suits had their movements tracked, and the images were relayed to a computer.

The series is aimed at six- to 11-year-olds, especially girls.

The series was budgeted at $300,000 U.S. per episode. Nelvana invested over $10 million in the series.
