Indirectedly based on Thomas Malory's "Morte D'Arthur" through a manga adaptation by Satomi Mikuriya. The manga was serialized in such children's publications as "Terebiland" and "Terebi" magazine.
A second series, "Moero Arthur Hakuba no Oji" ("Prince on a White Horse"), was released in 1980, running for 22 episodes. The characters of Lancelot, Morgan le Fay and the Lady of the Lake no longer appeared, but new characters included Pete, Baron Damiane and the Zaikings. Family Home Entertainment released a United States dub of some memorable episodes in the 1980s, with voice actors attempting English accents.
