Twenty-six 30-minute episodes are planned, each consisting of two cartoons.
Gerald McBoing Boing first appeared as a script written by Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss) for a sound recording, and subsequently as several United Productions of America animated shorts. The first, "Gerald McBoing Boing" (1951), won the Academy Award for best short subject (animated). The cartoons were produced by Dr. Seuss and Bill Scott of "Rocky and Bullwinkle" fame.
