While extremely popular in Canada, this series has not been as well-received in the United States.

The series has been criticized by some parents (particularly mothers) for several reasons: Max and Ruby's parents are not shown; the brother and sister rabbits are left alone without the presence of adults; Ruby takes on a caregiver role; and Max is bratty, but no parent intercedes.
