A short-lived series of live-action and some drawn animation. Max J. Martin's hand is seen in live action drawing topical cartoons in sped-up fashion.
This is credited in Denis Gifford's "British Animated Films, 1895-1985" as the first animated cartoon series.
Advertisement in Pathé's Cinema Journal (November 22, 1913):
"What's this? Well, it's Number One of Pathé Cartoons. Something that will catch on immediately. We foresee for this special film a great rush; and, Mr. Exhibitor, if you want something really humorous, just secure at once No. 1 Pathé Cartoons, a Satirical Review of Topical Events - ready now! Price 55 shillings first week, 30 shillings second week, 15 shillings third week."
