Felix the Cat's first feature-length adventure.
This movie was originally to have been released during Thanksgiving weekend 1987. However, the release was constantly delayed. The film was eventually shown as the opening selection of the third Los Angeles Animation Celebration at the Wadsworth Theatre in January of 1989, but never moved into theatrical release.
There was talk of a Thanksgiving 1990 release, but the competition (Home Alone, The Rescuers Down Under, Dances with Wolves, Predator 2, and Three Men and a Little Lady) was deemed too tough and again the film languished. It was eventually released to home video on August 22, 1991, and played periodically on The Disney Channel in the 1990s.
It was also one of the first cartoon movies to use computer animation, though it was mainly traditionally hand-animated.
