The Fumihiko Takayama anime movie was released in a 78-minute version in the U.S. in 1982, but in a 60-minute version in Japan in 1986. This had a blonde Dorothy, unlike the TV series, which had a brunette Dorothy. Like the 1939 Judy Garland live-action film, it adhered to the plot of only the first book.
