Computer-generated animation. This is the first 3-D CGI feature movie made in China, and the country's first feature film made primarily in English.
Pre-production began in Los Angeles in 2000 with a team of artists led by Jean "Moebius" Giraud. Further pre-production and CGI production moved to China in 2001.
Based on a story in the satirical magazine "Hari Kiri."
Giraud and co-producer Arnie Wong and artist Moebius met in the 1980s while working on Disney's early digital film "Tron."
