Production Notes:

This is the first of several cartoons in which Tom plays a cardinal's guard while Jerry and Nibbles play two of the king's musketeers.

Nibbles speaks several lines in French! (He also speaks in English, saying "Poor, poor pussycat" when Tom loses his head to a cannon loaded with food.)

Song: "Soldier of Fortune" (Sigmund Romberg-Gus Kahn)

One of five Tom and Jerry cartoons in which Tom dies at the end (the others are "The Yankee Doodle Mouse," "Safety Second," "The Duck Doctor" and "Mouse Trouble").

Traditional, Hand-drawn Animation.
