Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was born in 1948 in Pakistan and made over 50 albums before his death in 1997. Khan is revered for his traditional Qawwali singing and for his experimentation with this form of Sufi music. The song "Tracery" uses classical vocal exercises in which words are used solely for the quality of their sound.
