This cartoon was released to theaters on May 19, 1939. On the very same day, it became the first cartoon broadcast on an American TV station- specifically, NBC's experimental station W2XBS (now WNBC) in New York.
One source says that it was previewed on May 3, 1939, which was NBC's first full-scale evening of TV broadcasting. Helen Lewis was mistress of ceremonies for the program, which also included music, songs, a film and a play.
