Recorded on 2-7-61.
This was the first of 5-6 episodes that Daws Butler or Hal Smith substituted for Mel Blanc as Barney. In January 1961, Blanc had suffered a near-fatal car accident while driving east on Sunset Boulevard- right at "Dead Man's Curve." He lay in a coma for two weeks at UCLA Medical Center. Interestingly, Blanc was revived from his coma when his doctors had the sudden inspiration to address the comatose Blanc as Bugs Bunny. After two weeks of no response, the doctor said to Blanc, "Hey, Bugs Bunny! How are you?" Blanc says he answered back in Bugs' voice, "Ehh, just fine, Doc. How are you?" The doctor then said, "And Porky Pig! How are you feeling?" to which Blanc responded, "J-j-j-just fine, th-th-th-thanks."
Hoagy Carmichael's name was unchanged, unlike the usual practice in this series, in which guest performers were given Stone Age versions of their real names.
