The first two-hour made-for-TV animated movie.
It was released as an unofficial sequel to Ralph Bakshi's 1978 film, "Lord of the Rings," and tried to pick up from where that film left off. This is also Rankin Bass Productions' sequel to its own "The Hobbit." Scenes from the original special are shown in "The Return of the King."
Songs: "There And Back Again" (Bilbo Baggins), "Frodo, of The Nine Fingers" (The Minstrel), "The Bearer of The Ring," "The Small Things That Life Are All About" (The Minstrel), "When There's A Whip There's A Way" (Orcs), "Leave Tomorrow 'Til It Comes" (The Minstrel), "Cracks Of Doom," "The Bearer of The Ring," "Win The Battle, Lose The War... Retreat" (Orcs), "The Return Of The King."
