Production Notes:


The first animated film nominated for an Academy Award for best sound editing.

Monsters, Inc. earned $62 million during its opening weekend. This set a box-office record for the biggest debut for an animated film (this record was alter broken by Finding Nemo, also a Disney-Pixar collaboration).

According to Pixar CEO Steve Jobs, an audience poll of Monsters, Inc. showed that the Pixar name was a stronger attraction than the Disney name- by a slim margin for families, but by a wide margin for adults. "At least in this survey of people walking out of Monsters, Inc., the Pixar brand was already a very important factor, more important than the Disney brand," he said.

Alternate Titles: "Hidden City" (Working Title) and "Monsters, Incorporated" (Working Title).
